Layering a round rug over carpet

Layering a round rug over carpet

First check that both the carpet and rug suppliers permit the proposed combination. The surface beneath a rug affects how it lies and moves. If the round edge curls, ripples or shifts, stop and reassess the setup. A decorative circle should not create an unstable transition in a frequently used walking area.

Start with the real room

A circle offers a different relationship to furniture from a rectangle. Its maximum width is only available through the centre, and the usable surface curves away at the sides. Testing the true outline helps you judge that difference. Choose the shape for the activity and the space, not merely to echo another round object.

Before you choose

  1. Write down the exact product and size you are comparing. Keep the room measurements beside that record.
  2. Check the full product gallery, not only the first image. Distinguish the selected option from room styling illustrations.
  3. Read the specific care information and resolve any unanswered practical question with the supplier before ordering.

Continue your plan

Compare the relevant rug collection alongside your notes. Use the size guide to review proportions and the care guide for a starting checklist. The individual product label remains the authority for care.
