Make a small lounge feel settled

Make a small lounge feel settled

A tiny rug beneath only the coffee table can emphasise separate pieces of furniture. Try a taped outline that reaches the sofa instead. Keep the pattern scale legible from the doorway, and reduce competing objects around the edge. This is a proportion exercise, not a rule that every small room must have the largest rug.

Start with the real room

Think of the rug as the boundary of an activity. The useful dimensions are the ones occupied by people and furniture together, including the space needed to get up and move around. A photograph can suggest a mood, but it cannot measure that working area for you.

Before you choose

  1. Write down the exact product and size you are comparing. Keep the room measurements beside that record.
  2. Check the full product gallery, not only the first image. Distinguish the selected option from room styling illustrations.
  3. Read the specific care information and resolve any unanswered practical question with the supplier before ordering.

Continue your plan

Compare the relevant rug collection alongside your notes. Use the size guide to review proportions and the care guide for a starting checklist. The individual product label remains the authority for care.
