Why a rug colour changes with viewing angle

Why a rug colour changes with viewing angle

Light reflected by a textile surface can make parts appear lighter or darker from different positions. Compare the rug in more than one photograph and under your usual room lighting. Screen settings add another variable. A tonal change in a picture is not enough on its own to identify a material defect or a different colourway.

Start with the real room

Product specifications are most useful when read together. Fibre, backing, thickness, dimensions and care instructions describe different parts of the same object. Avoid treating one appealing word as a substitute for the full information. Ask the supplier to clarify any point that affects your floor, cleaning equipment or intended use before ordering.

Before you choose

  1. Write down the exact product and size you are comparing. Keep the room measurements beside that record.
  2. Check the full product gallery, not only the first image. Distinguish the selected option from room styling illustrations.
  3. Read the specific care information and resolve any unanswered practical question with the supplier before ordering.

Continue your plan

Compare the relevant rug collection alongside your notes. Use the size guide to review proportions and the care guide for a starting checklist. The individual product label remains the authority for care.
